Neila Craig was born and raised in Juiz de Fora Brazil. She married a man from Louisiana and came to live in the United States. Our baking business began as Shuga Baby Confections with a little red wagon that was pulled throught the VA Hospital with little goodies for sale. From there the product was sold at multiple locations such as farmers markets, craft shows, and local events such as Riverfeté and Winterfeté.
Neila started baking when she was a young girl in Brazil and expanded when she moved to the US and had children. The craft of baking grew from family events and children's birthday's to special cakes for friends and wedding cakes for profit. Neila went on to complete all four courses for cake decorating offered by Wilton and taught cake decorating classes at Michael's Craft Store for 3 years. Neila completed a course for cake decorating from the Culinary Institute of Baton Rouge.
What started out as baking for fun and on the side has grown into something so much more! Doce Vida Brazilian Bakery now has it's own space for customers to come and enjoy a delish bite to eat.
